The Skill List of the Top Law & Order Detectives: SVU

It is not for everyone to become a SVU investigator. To be an SVU detective you need to possess a certain attitude and work ethic. We have already seen bad cops get kicked out by SVU, and sometimes it is impossible for good cops to handle the situation. This was true in Season 1 when Munch had to deal with Brian Cassidy (Dean Winters), his original partner. The unit’s newest member, Cassidy is young and bright-eyed, eager to please — perhaps Too He is very eager considering the short-lived, secret relationship he had with Benson. He’s immature, uninformed and takes great emotional toll from the nature of his work. Mid-season episode “Disrobed,” Lieutenant Captain Cragen (Dann Flek), the commanding officer of the Squad, suggests to Cassidy that he take a position in Narcotics.

Cassidy is back to “SVU” He has been re-elected many times in the past. In Season 13, he returned to Narcotics where he was offered a job at the Internal Affairs Division. SVU continues to have problems with Cassidy even though he left Narcotics. As shown in the Season 19 episode, however, it is still plagued by the same problems that made Cassidy unsuitable for the position. “Chasing Demons” Season 20 and the sequel “Facing Demons.” The misdemeanor he committed while working undercover as well as his nervousness at the witness stand led to him being mistrialed and serious damage in his professional and personal relationship with Benson.
