After releasing two tracks that express her dismay and anger at the state of things in the business, this singer has slammed her peers.

She Says “I thought I’d like to burn it to the ground and start over. But it’s burning itself down without my help.” She says that, despite her best efforts to stay away from mainstream country music artists’ stories today, she still feels distanced.
Maren continues to state that the genre has become stale, and she is no longer interested in trying to make it fit with her music.
This is what she says when she wants to go for the throat. “After the Trump years, people’s biases were on full display. It just revealed who people really were and that they were proud to be misogynistic and racist and homophobic and transphobic.”
Maren concludes with this last thought “All these things were being celebrated, and it was weirdly dovetailing with this hyper-masculine branch of country music. I call it butt rock.”
