As the trailer kicks off, Arthur tells us, in voiceover, that things have changed since we saw him last — he’s a husband and a father now, raising his child alongside his own dad, Tom Curry (Temuera Morrison). Amber Heard’s character Mera who is Arthur’s romantic interest, cannot be seen in this video. Arthur is also the new King of Atlantis. With a diverse and large population under his control, it’s no surprise that not all of them are fans. Black Manta says he is going to destroy Aquaman’s family and kill Aquaman. At least, he is direct.
Determined to save Atlantis as well as his mother Atlanna (Nicole Kidman), Arthur decides to team up with his half-brother and former enemy — and the antagonist of the first film — Orm Marius, played by Patrick Wilson. Orm Marius, who has been hiding for a while and is a bit worse for the wear, brushes up his combat skills to stand alongside Arthur when they learn Black Manta holds the Black Trident.
The trailer for the film looks fun and campy. It looks like James Wan enjoyed making this new installment of the “Aquaman” franchise. “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” The movie will be released in theaters on 20 December 2023.
