Yucca Valley Fire Burns 250 Acres – Los Angeles

Thursday’s brush fire east of Los Angeles, which burned approximately 250 acres, saw firefighters protect homes and other structures.

The Elk FireThe spread began near Elk Trail Road and San Andreas Road. It threatened 10 homes and buildings at one point. It was stopped by firefighters on Thursday afternoon.

The level of containment was 25 percent. The remote area was not evacuated.

In the northwest corner Joshua Tree National Park’s Yucca Valley, flames can be seen. Visitors are not allowed to visit the area. Black Rock Canyon is still open.

In 2020, the Dome FireOver 43,000 acres of land and over 1,000,000 Joshua trees were lost. The lightning caused the fire to start.
