WhatsApp confirms MAJOR change that iPhone fans will love – will you use it?

WHATSAPP has announced that you will be able to transfer your WhatsApp chats between Android devices and iPhone.

It means it’s now far easier to bin a Google smartphone in favour of an Apple one – and vice versa.

This long-awaited update has been a top Apple priority.

Up to now, it was nearly impossible to move WhatsApp chats between Android and iPhone during a phone swap.

Apple and WhatsApp have now teamed up to make it possible.

The Sun reported that the new feature was in development last month, and WhatsApp has confirmed its release.

The chat app said on Wednesday: “Today, you’ll have the ability to transfer your entire chat history from Android to iOS and vice versa.

“Now you have the freedom to switch to and from your preferred devices.”

Mark Zuckerberg – who runs WhatsApp (and Facebook) parent company Meta – previously said it was a change in high demand.

“We’re adding to WhatsApp the ability to securely switch between phones and transfer your chat history, photos, videos, and voice messages between Android and iPhone while maintaining end-to-end encryption,” said Zuckerberg.

“This is a top requested feature. We launched the ability switch from iPhone–>Android last year, and now adding Android–>iPhone as well.”

You will need to download the latest version from the Google Play Store if you have an Android phone.

This app exists already and allows you to move your Android text, photos, and other information to a new iPhone.

However, it is now being upgraded to allow for the shifting of WhatsApp messages.

To allow data to be transferred, you will need to consent.

It will then be packaged up – while remaining encrypted and impossible for Apple to see – then moved over to iOS.

After you log in, your WhatsApp data is decrypted automatically.

There’s no need to be connected to the internet for the transfer to work – it’s peer-to-peer.

There is no need to update WhatsApp as the change takes place on the company’s servers.
