While on patrol in West Hollywood, authorities were able to seize 17 cellphones stolen by the thieves and take two suspects into custody.
The patrol team approached the intersection of Santa Monica and Robertson boulevards July 8 and saw a man who resembled a pickpocket suspect from past incidents, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Tweet.
Deputies made contact with the male suspect and the female companion when they approached.
The female was seen throwing a cellphone behind a nearby dumpster, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
An investigation revealed 17 stolen cell phones, which led authorities to arrest the woman and man for grand theft.
They have not been identified.
Deputies were able locate five victims and return their cell phones.
