WAGs at war – how the group have picked sides over Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy spat

Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney have been embroiled in a legal battle after an accusation was made several years ago.

It all started when Coleen claimed Rebekah’s Instagram account was picking up stories to sell to the press.

Rebekah, who is married to Jamie Vardy, vehemently denied the accusations.

She insisted a number of people had access to her Instagram page and sued for libel in a bid to clear her name.

Behind the scenes, other WAGs seemed to have picked sides in the explosive feud as they publicly commented on it.

Recently, WhatsApp messages between Rebekah and her agent Caroline Watt were exposed after messages were sent to Coleen’s lawyers at the end of last year.

The messages were read out in High Court as part of the ongoing libel case.

Coleen had claimed Rebekah’s account was behind the leak

Rebekah seemed to be angry after Leah James, Toni Terry, Zoe Wilkinson and Fern Hawkins liked Coleen’s post accusing her of leaking stories.

The WAG asked her agent to DM the women about liking the post. It’s not established that the four liked the post but it was claimed in the text messages between Rebekah and her agent.

In one message sent in February 2019, Rebekah writes: “She (Coleen) thinks it’s me that’s been doing the stories on her! Of all the people on her Instagram ffs! Leanne Brown etc x”

Leanne previously spoke about their feud during a chat with Closer magazine.

She said: “It’s not nice to fall out with anyone. It’s all negative energy. And it’s very difficult being in the public eye – I think this has been dragged out long enough now.”

In 2019, WAGs Chantelle Heskey, Danielle Lloyd and Lizzie Cundy all threw their support behind pal Coleen.

Chantelle appeared on the Victoria Derbyshire show to sympathise with Coleen and claimed someone close to her once leaked stories about her.

“It is heartbreaking to think that someone so close to you would sell stories and leak things like that so I totally get where [Coleen’s] coming from,” she explained.

Danielle even recently blasted Rebekah for the ‘brutal’ text reportedly written about Coleen, shown in High Court.

She claimed the feud will cause a ‘divide’ between any mutual friends thay have.

Speaking on the texts, she said to Closer : “I was really shocked, I couldn’t believe it, the messages I read on the news stories were brutal.”

After the incident first happened, Danielle – who was married to Jamie O’Hara – also made an appearance on This Morning and claimed she ‘wasn’t shocked’ as she had ‘run-ins with Rebekah before over similar things’.

Rebekah later tweeted that Danielle was making ‘false claims’.

Lizzie Cundy – who was previously married to footballer Jason Cundy – appeared on the same show and said she was ‘shocked’ by the accusation and understood with why Coleen made the post. However, she has stayed neutral regarding the situation.

Regarding Rebekah, she said: “It doesn’t mean you’re guilty, just because you’re friends with journos. I do a radio show with one. Coleen wouldn’t have gone through this if she didn’t have concrete evidence.”

Another person who publicly supported Rebekah was Nicola McLean, 38, who came out in defence of her on The Jeremy Vine Show.

At the time, she claimed her mate “cannot stop crying” and had been forced to take her kids out of school because of the backlash.
