Ukrainian Couple Escapes War Torn County, Finds Refuge in Orange County – Los Angeles

Vlada Mykhailneko finds it heartbreaking that Mariupol is experiencing so much destruction. It’s her home town.

Her husband Mykola and she were able escape violence and are now in safety in Southern California thanks to a friend.

“I can’t believe that my city is destroyed,”She spoke. “Everything is destroyed, my home destroyed.”

They flew from six countries in two days, and they landed in Canada. Friends took them to America. They are staying in Orange County with a friend.

They are grateful for their home. The couple needed more space as they were expecting a baby in July.

As luck would have it the woman they were staying with was a friend with Kim Passaro’s daughter.

“And I said, ‘You know what? Just bring them on up here and we will meet them,”She spoke. “My husband and I met with them and fell in love with them immediately.”

Perry, Passaro’s husband, and Passaro started hosting the Ukrainian couple in their Fullerton home last month.

Unfortunately, the Passaros cannot host the couple until June due to family coming to stay with the couple.

Kim is now raising funds for the couple via gofundme. Kim is asking for others to visit a website called www.gofundme. Ukraine Gets ShelterConsider signing up as a host family for a Ukrainian family.

“It’s really opened my eyes. I’m living with so much more gratitude now. It’s been a blessing to have them.”
