The Coastal Fire spreads in an Orange County canyon, and burns uphill into a neighborhood. It destroyed at least 20 homes and forced evacuations.
The fire began Wednesday afternoon at Aliso Woods Canyon, Laguna Niguel. Initially reported as a fire on 3 acres, it was quickly fanned and fueled with thick brush by the ocean winds. It grew to almost 200 acres.
CalFire captured the fire expanding and setting the sun behind hills on the coast of Orange County. The rapid spread of the fire was aided by wind gusts of 20-30 mph Wednesday.
The video shows flames rising to the top of the canyon, continuing their burning in the surrounding area.
No injuries were reported.
