Thieves Target LA, OC Chanel Stores in Heists – Los Angeles

Items were stolen from two Chanel boutiques in Beverly Grove and Newport Beach Fashion Island, and property damage was done within 12 hours of each other.

Beverly Grove was burglarized on Wednesday at 4:30 a.m. “smash and grab.”

A video was taken by an early-morning worker and showed a van smashing into the display box. Then, a crew of at most eight people in three vehicles exited the van and took thousands of dollars’ worth of Chanel bags.

Although the white van was found, it is not known what happened to the two other vehicles. Five people were taken into police custody.

Twelve hours later, the Nieman Marcus Chanel boutique was robbed. It happened at approximately 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The glass was broken by a man who ran through the door. The man, along with at least six others, ran out of the shop carrying thousands of dollars’ worth of Chanel bags.

The shop was ransacked and more than a dozen handbags were left on the ground. Officers pursued the suspects and found that the robbers were throwing the Chanel bags out the window onto the 405 or 73 freeways.

Some of the suspects in the robbery are still being sought by police.
