JoAnna Garcia Swisher began performing at ten after auditioning for a local theatre production and landed the lead. Since then, she has been successful in her career and personal life.
She has since played diverse roles in the film industry, starring in some hit movies such as “Sweet Magnolias,” where she plays a recently separated woman, trying to navigate raising her three children and getting her divorce finalized.
Her other film credits include “As Luck Would Have It,” “Reba,” “Privileged,” “The Internship,” and “Once Upon A Time.” Besides being a renowned actress, Swisher is a wife and a mother of two daughters.

The “Revenge of the Bridesmaids” actress became engaged to professional baseball outfielder Nick Swisher in May 2010 and walked down the aisle that December at the Breakers Hotel & Resort in Palm Beach, Florida.
The couple had their first child, daughter Emerson Jay in 2013. Soon after welcoming their daughter, MLB.com. reported that Nick had already gotten into protective dad mode and was already in a panic at the thought of his daughter dating.
In 2016, the couple shared that they were pregnant and expected another girl. “We are so excited that our family is growing and can’t wait to meet baby number two,” the excited parents told People.
Sailor Stevie arrived on June 28, 2016, weighing 7 pounds, 1 ounce, and 18.5 inches long. The excited parents shared the exciting news on their respective Instagram accounts, writing:
“So excited to introduce you to our tiniest princess, Sailor Stevie. She has stolen our hearts, and our family feels complete ❤️, Nick, Jo, & Big Sister Emme #SSS.”
The parents share their daughters’ milestones, posting cute photos of the girls on their social media. From the numerous photos together, it is evident that the family loves spending quality time together.
Some Instagram photos show the family cuddling puppies as they smile into the camera. Others feature the cute family having fun as the two girls pretended to be zombies during Halloween.
Halloween is, however, not the only family tradition that the Swisher family celebrates. Swisher disclosed that they often have a highly competitive family kickball game. The game is a family versus family affair, complete with a trophy.
In 2020, they focused on a smaller circle due to COVID restrictions. However, she says they always play the kickball game whether the sun shines or the rain pours. Another tradition that her family upholds is eating pork, black beans, and rice.
Growing up, Swisher’s father was a practicing OB-GYN, and he was often present during his childrens’ births. He made everything about family and was even present during Emerson Jay’s birth.
His love for family is something she looks up to and wants for her own family. Even though the couple has their hands full with raising their daughters, Swisher says she would welcome the idea of adding to their family, but with a condition.
Speaking to Us Weekly, the “The Astronaut Wives Club” star joked that she would gladly try for another baby, but only if her husband carried the pregnancy this time around.
