A woman driving an unregistered car crashed into her vehicle in South Los Angeles on Thursday morning, killing a man who was crossing the street.
Following the fatal car accident at Florence and Central avenues in Florence-Graham, the driver of that vehicle was taken into custody. According to police, the victim was in his 40s or 50s and was thrown onto the Toyota Avalon’s hood.
The driver was taken into custody at the scene. At least three cars parked nearby were also damaged in the accident.
The car had been pursued by police earlier but officers decided to back off and use a helicopter to track it. At the time of the crash, officers were only four blocks away.
Authorities are searching for witnesses.
