Rylan celebrates the 10th anniversary of his audition on X Factor and declares that he has ‘no regrets.

Rylan teased a possible return to music in the spring with a project he had been working on for 2 years. This is a decade after he failed to impress Gary Barlow at his iconic X Factor audition.

Rylan Clark auditions in 2012 for X Factor

On Saturday morning Rylan reflected upon how far he had come in the last decade as he celebrated the 10-year mark of his iconic X Factor audition via social media.

He told his fans, 33, that he was a popular television presenter. “no regrets”The story of his time on the now-defunct ITV program – sharing a collection of photos of him singing on stage with blonde hair to impress the judges.

Rylan auditioned in the ninth series of talent contests at The O2 Arena in London. He was seated in front Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow and Tulisa.

After Des’ree’s song ‘Kissing You’ was played by Radio 2, Gary, Take That’s lead singer, appeared unimpressed. He told Rylan that he was hopeful. “Rylan, love your personality, hate your voice, really strange song choice as well.”

Despite Gary’s negativity, Gary was sent to bootcamp by the three other judges.

“Dunno how, dunno why, but today marks 10 years since that audition. Thanks for a decade to remember. No regrets x,”Rylan captioned his special anniversary photo to his 1.7million followers on Twitter on Saturday.

“Fabulous darling,”Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus wrote to the ex-singer, with a fan adding: “And I for one am so glad you did as a life without Rylan on the TV would be very dull.”

Rylan made it to Week 8, but was eliminated by the judges.

Rylan, who first appeared in the limelight as an aspiring singer in 2012 has since gone on to build a successful career as one of the most beloved TV presenters in the country.

The star host of Strictly’s This Morning, Big Brother’s Bit on the Side and This Morning has also hosted Ready Steady Cook, This Morning, Supermarket Sweep, Ready Steady Cook, and BBC’s You Are What You Wear. He also hosts a popular weekend program on BBC Radio 2.

The Twitter tribute posted Saturday by the star shows how he clearly remembers his X Factor days fondly.



Rylan has had a stellar TV career that would suggest his singing days are over.

Rylan teased that he would be returning to the music scene earlier in the year.

“Rylan will not return to music but someone else might is all I’m going to say,”He spoke to the Mirror in January.

“There is a project that I’m working on that’s MINE.

“I’ve been working on it for about two years. It is mine, it is not one else’s – it is fully mine.”

Rylan has not yet revealed his mysterious plans to make a comeback to music

“It is, what could have been….That’s all I’m going to say.

“It’s what could have been,” he mysteriously concluded with.

When pushed, Rylan denied any link with ITV show The Masked Singer – where many celebrities sing in disguise – but refused to give any more clues.

“Rylan won’t be returning to music, but I can imagine someone else.” the multi-talented star concluded with in January.
