RYANAIR has opened 10 new routes from its Newcastle base.
The budget airline will operate 19 flights from the airport. It will also fly more than 130 flights weekly from Newcastle this summer.
There are 10 new destinations, including Chania in Greece and Fuerteventura in Gran Canaria.
Ryanair has invested £152m in its new Newcastle base, creating 60 jobs.
Ryanair’s director for marketing Dan Brady said that Ryanair is delighted to announce its largest Newcastle schedule, which includes 130 weekly flights over 19 routes. These routes include 10 new routes to amazing destinations like Zadar, Milan, Chania and Milan.
“The opening of this base and introduction of these new routes from Newcastle reinforces our commitment to increasing connectivity, travel options and inbound tourism to the area as Ryanair will now offer 40 per cent more capacity than it did pre-pandemic.”


Ryanair passengers must wear a mask when they board all flights, unless exempted by their doctor.
Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary indicated that he expects to see the end in coming weeks of this rule. “end of April or May”.
Others airlines, such as Jet2 and Virgin Atlantic, have also dropped the mandatory face mask rule.
Earlier this month, TUI scrapped its mandatory face mask rule for passengers on flights to and from England and Northern Ireland.
This has been extended to include passengers flying to or from Wales by the travel operator.
British airways announced it was scrapping mandatory masks earlier this month, however, the airline has now updated its website and states that Brits will still need to wear a mask if they are flying to one of 50 countries.
Ryanair also announced that it had to cancel thousands of flights. Lisbon this summer due to a lack of airport slots.
Ryanair announced that 19 routes, including UK airports Birmingham or Bournemouth would no longer be possible.
These cancellations will impact 5,000 flights, which could affect up to 900,000.
