Rich Lawyer Mocks Poor Restaurant Cleaner, Looks Closer at Her Face & Realizes She’s His Copy — Story of the Day

A wealthy lawyer lashes out at a poor cleaner at a party in a posh restaurant, but he regrets every slur he hurled at her when he looks at her closely and realizes she’s his copy!

Brian Wilkinson was raised by his great-grandfather, grandfather, father, and grandfather who were all lawyers. He followed their footsteps. He was the heir to his grandfather’s law firm, Wilkinson and Partners, and the most eligible bachelor in the eyes of his dear grandmother.

Nancy Wilkinson had raised Brian just like her son since Amanda died in a fire at their house years ago. Now that Brian was well-settled professionally, Nancy wanted him to marry and make her a grandmother, and she had a perfect match for him – Christine, the mayor’s daughter.

Nancy was not aware that Brian was in love with Alana Jones his secretary and was in search of Christine.

Brian and Alana had been dating for almost two years, and he was ready to declare his love to the entire world finally. He organized a party at one of the most luxurious restaurants in town and invited his entire family. But he didn’t tell them why. He stated it was a surprise.

“Jesus Christ! This – This can’t be possible!” Brian took a deep breath and looked at the woman in question.

As all of his guests and family members gathered, Brain approached the stage with a glass of champagne and smiled at everyone, then he took the microphone in his hands.

“First and foremost, thank you, everyone, for taking time out of your hectic schedules to attend today’s gathering,” He began. “I’m sure you’re wondering why we’re all gathered here…

“Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to raise a toast to the girl I love the most, as it gives me great pleasure to announce today that I, Brian Wilkinson, am madly in love with my girlfriend Alana and want to spend the rest of my life with her…”

As Brian said that, Nancy’s face flushed bright crimson in rage, and she stared at Alana. Meanwhile, Brian approached Alana, dropped down on his knees, and withdrew a box containing an exquisite diamond ring from his pocket.

Alana: “Will You Marry Me?”” he asked, and she nodded, her eyes welling up. “I will. You are my love!” she cried as Brian placed the ring on her finger.

At this point, the entire room was filled with clapping and whistles, but Christine, who also happened to be there, stormed out of the party in rage. She was furious with Nancy and cursed her as she walked away.

Nancy’s blood was boiling as well. She couldn’t bear the thought of her grandson marrying his secretary, who was nowhere close to their standards.

Overcome with anger, Nancy snatched the glass of wine off her table and hurled it at Alana’s face, tossing the glass away and causing it to shatter into tiny pieces.

“The party is over! There won’t be a wedding! This woman doesn’t deserve my grandson!” she screamed at the top of her voice.

A huge gasp rang out in the hall, and Brian stared fiercely at her. “What the hell are you doing, Gran? Are you crazy? Everybody is staring at you!”

“I am out of my mind!” Brian, are you sure you can bring any outside dirt to our house? I’d be happy to support that! She replied vehemently.

“But Gran —”

Before Brian could finish, his father cut him off. “Everyone, I’m sorry for what happened. I would appreciate your privacy. Please…” he gestured toward the exit and started escorting the guests out.

After everyone had left, Peter approached Nancy and told her to calm down. “Mom, what’s the matter with you? Is it a bad idea for Alana and Brian to get married? They are not children! They can decide for themselves!

You’ll support them, of course!” Nancy scoffed at him. “It’s not surprising that you did the exact same thing years ago. You brought a waitress back home and made her my daughter-inlaw. Your son brought a waitress home and made her my daughter-in-law!

“MOM!” Peter raised his voice. “”MOM! Pay attention to what you say!

But Nancy refused to calm down and continued ranting at Peter. Meanwhile, Alana summoned a cleaner to make sure no one was wounded by the broken glass scattered all over the place.

The cleaner arrived soon and began cleaning the glass shards. She noticed a few pieces of glass had fallen near Brian’s feet and asked him to move, but Nancy’s words had infuriated Brian so much that he vented his frustration on her.

“MOVE?” he screamed at her. “”MOVE? What is the point of everyone trying to control and manage my life? It’s a horrible place to be!”

“I – I’m sorry, sir,” the woman said quietly, her head bowed. “I was only—”

“You were only, what? I don’t understand why you can’t look someone in their eyes when they’re talking. Do you feel embarrassed to show your face publicly? Are you not able to have some manners?

“I’m sorry, sir,” she said apologetically. “I can’t show my face. I’m sorry. I don’t want to get lost. Please allow me to do it. My mother is seriously ill. I need money to pay for her treatment.

“What?” Brain laughed mockingly. “This is hilarious! I want to see more of your face! Come on, quick,” he ordered.

With tears in her eyes, the woman raised her head and moved her untidily scattered locks to show her face.

“Jesus Christ! This is impossible!” Brian took a step back, startled as he looked closely at the woman’s face. She had a huge burnt mark on her right cheek, and she was a copy of him!

“Charlotte, is that you?” he blurted out, unable to believe his eyes. “You’re alive?”

Peter and Brian’s grandfather, George, were equally stunned, and they just didn’t know how to react. The woman not only resembled Brian but looked a lot like Brian’s late sister, Charlotte!

“I’m sorry….” The woman started crying. “Charlotte, Brian, it’s me. I am VERY MUCH ALIVE! Thanks to my adopt mother who raised me! Unlike our so-called sweet grandmother who abandoned me in the hospital to die alone!

“When I saw you and dad here, I wanted to meet you and hug you, but I just couldn’t gather the courage….I could never bring myself to meet my family again after what Gran had done to me. I’m sorry,” She managed to get through the words before breaking down in tears.

“Gran?” Brian gazed at Nancy, stunned. “What is Charlotte even saying, Gran? What did you do?”

Nancy stiffened as she saw Charlotte. She’d never expected her past to haunt her this way, but she knew she couldn’t get away from it now. She sank onto one of the chairs in the room and revealed what she’d done several years ago…

It was revealed that Amanda had been trying to save her children, Charlotte, Brian, and Nancy when the house caught on fire. Nancy, on the other hand refused to allow Charlotte to remain in their family because she had suffered a severe burnt scare while trying to flee.

The Wilkinsons had always lived as a joint family, and Peter and George were out of town when it all happened. Nancy organized for Charlotte’s remains to be buried with someone else and told everyone she had died.

The hospital nurse adopted Charlotte and raised her as her child. Although she never concealed Charlotte’s truth, the trauma of her grandmother’s abuse of Charlotte never left Charlotte. Charlotte couldn’t find the courage to speak with her family again.

“Having such an ugly grandchild would be a disgrace to the family!” Nancy went on. “I have no regrets about what I did!”

Peter was shocked that Nancy had fallen so low. He resolved to not allow his mother to get away with what she’d done.

“Well, mom,” As he approached his mother, he calmly remarked. “I know you never look back on your actions. But at this point, I regret several things, even being born to you! I’m embarrassed to be your child, and I’m leaving your house right now!

“I don’t even want to see your face! And yes,” he added before leaving. “I should have listened to Amanda when she wanted to move out with our children. She was right, but I was wrong!”

“I’m in, too, dad,” Brian added. “I can’t believe Charlotte had to endure so much because of you, Gran! Gran, I MEAN IT! Yes, I do.”

That day, Brian, Peter, Charlotte, and Alana left George and Nancy alone, walked away from their lives, and never returned. George didn’t have a choice and felt compelled to stay with Nancy because he couldn’t bring himself to leave her.

Years went by, Brian and Alana married, and they had a daughter named Amanda. Meanwhile, Peter and Charlotte’s adoptive mother, Kathy, fell in love and moved in together.

When Nancy was dying and wanted to see her family for the last time, they all got a communication from George, but no one ever returned to them.

What can we learn from this story?

  • If you do wrong, you’ll eventually pay for it. Nancy’s awful deed of depriving her grandchild of her family caught up with her, and she was banished from their lives forever.
  • Be kind to everyone. Though Brian lashed out at Charlotte because he was angry with Nancy, he shouldn’t have done that.
