Liam Maloney (aged 30) died from fatal injuries sustained in a serious attack in the capital’s south-east at around 8 p.m. on Thursday.

Liam was rushed by emergency services to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where he was treated until his passing on Saturday. Daily Record reports.

After Liam’s murder, police inquiries are underway. Cops have been collecting CCTV footage from the area and making door-to door enquiries.

They also appeal to anyone with information about the incident to contact them, and assure the public that there is no greater risk.

Detective Chief Inspector Frank Travers of the Major Investigation Team stated: “This appears to have been a targeted incident and we do not believe there is any risk to the wider public.

“This is the midst of extensive police inquiries. Officers are also collecting CCTV footage from surrounding areas.

“Door to door inquiries are also being carried out.

“We will continue to have police presence in the region and I want to assure the community that all is being done to locate the responsible person.

“I would ask anyone who was in the Niddrie Marischal Road and Niddrie Marischal Grove area on Thursday night, and who may have seen or heard a disturbance, or witnessed anything suspicious, to please get in touch with us.

“We also have a website which allows the public to access a form to directly send information to the Major Investigation Team.

“Anyone with any CCTV, dashcam or any other footage that they think would assist the enquiry can also send this via this link.

“When submitting information, you can choose to remain anonymous.
