Perris Elementary School students are sickened by cannabis-laced food

Officials said six students from Enchanted Elementary School, Perris, were sickened by cannabis-laced food.

Thursday morning, just before 11:11 a.m., deputies responded at the school at 1357 Mount Baldy St. regarding multiple juvenile students reporting food-related illnesses, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department told KTLA.

Investigative evidence revealed that a student brought food into school and shared it with classmates. Officials stated that small amounts of cannabis were found in the food.

As a precaution, six students were taken to a local hospital. They are expected make a full recovery.

This is an isolated incident, the Sheriff’s Department said.

“At this time there are no reasons parents and students should continue to be concerned,”The department was also added.

School officials contact parents and/or guardians of students who are involved.

KTLA reached out Friday to the school, but was not able to get a response by the time this article was published.
