Oscars 2022: Riz Ahmed and Sir Kenneth Branagh lead Brits to success

British talent took home six Oscars in this year’s ceremony. This was slightly more than the eight that were awarded last year.

Sir Kenneth Branagh was also among the award recipients on Sunday

Brits did not win the Oscars in Hollywood this year. However, there was success in the technical categories.

Riz Ahmed, Sir Kenneth Branagh, and Sir Kenneth Branagh were two of the most well-known British winners at Dolby Theatre during the 94th edition of the Academy Awards.

Sir Kenneth, aged 61, received the gong, even though he had been nominated eight times previously.

He won the award for best original screenplay in Belfast, four decades after his first appearance on our screens at the BBC in 1982.

Riz, aged 30, won for his role in The Long Goodbye, an 11-minute film that won the Oscar.

Riz stars in the film, and also co-wrote and directed the script. The film is set in the future and depicts a terrorized family from South Asia living in London by an all-white militia force.

Theo Green, composer and music producer, was named the winner for best sound again for Dune.

His win comes four years after he won his first Oscar nomination for Blade Runner 202049.

Jenny Beavan won the best costume design award for Cruella.

After winning with Paul for First Man three year ago, Tristan won his second award.

Overall, British talent received six Oscars. This was slightly less than the eight Oscars won last year.
