Ontario police shoot dead a subject in pursuit



After a chase that ended in Pomona, at least one officer from the Ontario Police Department opened fire on a suspect and killed them.

According to Cpl. Lee, OPD.

Lee stated that the vehicle did not yield and continued on to Pomona. Lee said the pursuit ended in Montclair, where it collided with a civilian car.

The driver fled their vehicle and at most one officer opened fire.

Lee did not provide details on the events leading to the shooting. Lee did no detail how many officers fired their guns, how many bullets they fired, or how many times the victim was struck.

The pursuit subject was declared dead. However, it’s not known if they were killed on the spot or if taken to a hospital.

The crash did not result in any injuries to officers, nor is it known if the civilian driver was also hurt.
