NYPD responded to a 911 Call at 7:13 AM. It was located in Cheslie’s midtown apartment block on 42nd Street. Paramedics and officers responded to the call, but Cheslie was declared dead at the scene. Police are still investigating but believe Cheslie, who lived on the 9th Floor, jumped from the top of the building.

According to some reports, she left a Sunday morning note stating that all of her belongings would be given to her mother. Her family released the following statement: “Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed and she shined.”
The family also added “Most importantly, as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor and colleague — we know her impact will live on.”
