Maxine Waters Tests Positive for COVID after Summit of the Americas – Los Angeles

Rep. Maxine Wassers, D. Los Angeles, announced Tuesday that she tested positive for COVID-19. She said she was tested after being informed of possible exposure at last week’s Summit of the Americas.

“Yesterday, after learning of a potential exposure at the Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles, I was notified that I tested positive for COVID,”Waters stated this in a statement. “I am currently isolating and have no symptoms. I am following all protocols as recommended by the Office of the Attending Physician and CDC (U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) guidance.”

“I am grateful to be fully vaccinated and to have received two booster shots. If you haven’t received the vaccine and/or booster, I encourage you to do so. I am feeling fine and resting at home.”

We are not able to release any details regarding her exposure at the Summit of the Americas. The summit was attended by hundreds of dignitaries from the Western Hemisphere. It was hosted by President Joe Biden, and Jill Biden, the first lady.

Justin Trudeau, the Canadian Prime Minister, declared that he has tested positive for COVID-19. Biden also met with him in Los Angeles last week, and also held an announcement conference with Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Trudeau as well as Waters had second-degree infections. Waters was positive in April for the virus, while Trudeau tested positive in January.

Both are fully vaccinated.
