Mavs Rout Lakers 128-110 With LeBron James Sitting, Anthony Davis Near Return – Los Angeles

Luka Doncic scored 34 in a triple double and the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Lakers 128 to 110 on Tuesday night. Los Angeles was without LeBron James due to an ankle problem, while the Mavericks dominated the Lakers 128-110.

James and Davis did not play after being declared doubtful. Davis was upgraded. Due to a right-side sprain, the eight-time All-Star has not played since February 16. He was able to practice in full for the first time since the injury, which occurred Monday in Dallas.

It is unclear when the superstars will return. With seven games remaining, the Western Conference’s final play-in spot, the Lakers (34-44) are tied with San Antonio. Before the game, Coach Frank Vogel was not committed.

Los Angeles is wrapping up a three game road trip in Utah Thursday and will return home Friday to play a back-toback with New Orleans Friday. The Pelicans rank ninth in West, one game behind the Spurs and Lakers.

Malik Monk scored 28 and Russell Westbrook 25 points for the Lakers. They dropped their third straight loss for their fifth consecutive losing streak. It was part of a gradual slide away form.500 for the 2020 champs.

Doncic scored 25 points in the opening half, while Dallas scored an unprecedented 82 to take a 26-point advantage. He had 12 rebounds and 12 assists.

The 23-year-old star achieved his first triple double in less than two months. He also secured the 10th season-high with an Layup offensive rebound that gave him 32 points and put Dallas up 101-65 with 6:58 left in the third quarter. Doncic was the fourth.

Maxi Kleber completed a 11-0 run in the last 84 seconds of quarter one with a coast to coast layup just before buzzer. Dallas was ahead by 43-25 with 64%.

Spencer Dinwiddie fouled on a 3-pointer that gave Dallas a 63-33 lead in the second quarter. This was one of few times LA attempted to defend the 3-pointer. He missed the free-throw. Dallas was 11th of 19 at 3 after Dinwiddie made it. He finished with a season high 20 in 46 attempts.


Lakers: James and Davis played 21 games together in Dallas, the other meeting this season. It was won by the Lakers 107 to104 after overtime. Austin Reaves’ 3 was the winning basket. A second round is scheduled for Dec. 15. Reaves failed to make all four attempts from deep, but he scored three points. Stanley Johnson scored 16 points to match his season record.

Mavericks: G Brandon Knight signed a second 10-day contract under the COVID-19 allocations. G Trey Burke and G Sterling Brown were both involved in the safety and health protocols. Reggie Bullock had 17 points and was 5/8 from 3 in his game. He is now 12/19 after scoring 1/12 in the first two.


Lakers: LA can sweep Utah’s season series after winning it twice in the last three seasons.

Mavericks – Wednesday in Cleveland is the second night for the final back-toback of the regular-season. Dallas finishes a 15-game road trip that includes four games.
