Cristiano Ronaldo may be poised to take over Manchester United’s managerial position.

Ralf Rangnick has been appointed interim chief by United Chiefs until the end the season, following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being fired last November. And they now have a four-man shortlist of candidates ahead of a permanent appointment this summer – with Ronaldo thought to have a clear favourite among those under consideration.

This is because Kai Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo Jr were both in the scoring sheet for the Manchester United academy match. Four new Red Devils have been reported to be in the pipeline for summer transfers.

Academy success

Manchester United’s latest scoresheet was reminiscent of the early noughties. Kai Rooney and Cristiano Rooney Jr scored goals.

Kai Rooney, the oldest child of Wayne and Coleen, joined United in February last year following his dad’s return from Old Trafford. Both stars were part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s United first-team and both their children are now able to link up at academy level.

Rooney is particularly proud of his impressive statistics after his latest goals.

Clear transfer priority

Manchester United wants to fill four vacant positions in the next transfer window as part a summer rebuild.

According to reports, the club is looking for a striker and a midfielder. That could indicate that Jadon Sancho is seen as a left-sided attacker – and also spell disaster for Marcus Rashford’s future at the club.

The club would be keen to have someone fill that position.

Ronaldo’s selection of manager taken into consideration

Cristiano Ronaldo could be the one to get ahead of the club’s summer appointment of a permanent manager. His preferred choice is reportedly being looked at now.

After Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s November sacking, Portugal’s superstar wanted to see Spain manager Luis Enrique join Old Trafford. But club chiefs chose to appoint Ralf Rangnick as an interim until the end. Ajax’s Erik ten Ha has been interviewed for the role of manager, although United bosses remain open to other options.

Reports suggest that Enrique could still be given the chance to manage Manchester United.
