City are ‘gathering information’ on Dusan Vlahovic ahead of a potential January offer, while Barcelona have ruled out a mid-season move for Ferran Torres.
Manchester City are negotiating a tricky portion of the Premier League season with a measure of professionalism at the moment.
The clash at Aston Villa in midweek was as difficult a test as the champions have had in recent weeks, but Pep Guardiola’s side showcased their panache and pragmatism to get over the line.
With the manager lamenting the amount of absentees at the moment, there may be some temptation from his standpoint to make a rare foray into the January market.
City continue to be linked with a number of strikers, while other squad players have been mentioned as possible departures.

City ‘gathering information’ on Vlahovic
According to Corriere dello Sport (h/t Sport Witness), City are stepping up their interest in Fiorentina sensation Dusan Vlahovic.
The 21-year-old has been one of the standout players in Serie A this season, netting 12 goals in 15 top-flight appearances.
In the report, it’s said that Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of landing the Serbian are fading away, whereas City are “gathering more and more information on the Belgrade giant.”
Fiorentina are reported to be bracing themselves for a “shower of millions” for the player and will seek to keep the striker until the summer at least.
City are expected to make a bid for his services in January in an attempt to fill the one real hole in their squad.
No January move for Torres
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has told TV3 (h/t Marca) that the club is interested in City forward Ferran Torres.
Reports suggesting the La Liga side want the Spain international have gathered pace in recent weeks, despite the fact the former Valencia starlet is sidelined with an injury.
Laporta has confirmed that Torres has admirers at the Camp Nou, although he ruled out any potential January switch due to the club’s current financial constraints.
“Xavi has asked us to reinforce the squad and we are going to try to do so, but at the moment we have no salary margin to do it,” Laporta said.
“Therefore, at this moment we cannot but we must let the sports management work, to see what possibilities we have.
“[Torres] is one of the players that the football management has in its sights, but there are many others. You have to wait and see how everything goes. We need to keep an eye on a lot of issues.”
West Ham in for Ake
West Ham will try to sign City defender Nathan Ake in the January window, according to reports.
West Ham are set to be without their star centre-back Angelo Ogbonna for the majority of the campaign due to a serious knee injury and they will reportedly move for the out-of-favour Dutch defender as a result.
Ake has struggled for regular minutes since moving to City, as he sits behind Ruben Dias, John Stones and Aymeric Laporte in the centre-back pecking order.
The former Bournemouth star was given the chance to start in the win over Villa and he will be keen to force his way into contention more frequently before the window opens.
