Long Beach man dies after being strangled and beaten by his daughter

After allegedly strangling her father in an argument last month, a Long Beach woman is facing murder and elder abuse allegations.

Juan Ochoa Rodriguez (74 years old) died at a local hospital on Friday. This was more than a week after his daughter, who had been arrested for attacking him, was taken into custody.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, Genesis Noemi Ochoa (30), attacked her father and an unidentified woman at their home in the 5100 block on Long Beach Boulevard.

Both victims were found with severe injuries to their necks by police officers who arrived quickly to transport them to the nearest hospital.

Genesis Ochoa, the attacker in the attack, was identified and arrested on suspicion of elder abuse and attempted murder the next day.

Ochoa Rodriguez died on Friday almost two weeks after being admitted to the hospital.

Genesis Ochoa remains under $2 million bail. Detectives are currently working to submit paperwork to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office to have her charges amended to include murder.

Police said that the unidentified victim was released from the hospital.
