Yesterday Penny Mordaunt lost the Tory leadership contest. This left Rishi Sunak, Liz Truss and Liz Truss fighting for Number 10.
If you believe it, Truss is the bookmakers’ favourite to win. Betfair has the foreign secretary as a 4/6 chance to become the next Tory leader to Sunak’s 6/4.
Paddy Power had Truss priced at 8/15 as the next leader, slightly ahead of Sunak on 5/4, while William Hill had Truss priced at 4/7, and Sunak at 6/4.
We live in bizarre times, and as the country prepares itself for Truss becoming prime minister, some of Truss’s most cringey moments were retweeted on Twitter.

Then there’s the famous “cheese”speech she made at the 2014 Tory party convention, where she also joyfully spoke about opening “pork markets”. You can see the example of her appearing to be lost during a speech about leadership, as well as the time alright.

Voting will take place among Tory party members to determine who becomes the leader and PM. The results of this vote will be known in September.
Well, at least Truss will win. She’s not afraid to get down to the ground.
