Could there be an all-out strike?
Last week, pilots, rail workers and BT employees all took down their tools to gain better wages and working conditions.
Postal workers will be able to reveal whether strikes are imminent in the next week. So, could there be a general strike?
It was 1926 when a general strike took place. “the stoppage of work by a substantial proportion of workers in a number of industries in an organised endeavour to achieve economic or political objectives”.
As it stands, however, a general strikes is unlikely.
Only RMT boss Mike Lynch, who was responding to Liz Truss’ plans for striking ban, suggested it might happen. He is however only in charge of 80,000 workers.
