Jerry Orbach’s 25-year marriage was ‘extraordinary’. He declared his love with poems every day during this time

Orbach met Elaine Cancilla as his second wife in 1975. She was reluctant to give up her virginity. Accepted the role of a standby for Velma Kelly in the original production of “Chicago”Broadway.

Cancilla began dancing at the age of 10 and continued her studies at the School of the American Ballet until she was 16.

She was captivated by her character but also noticed Orbach’s warm greetings whenever he entered her life. After she learned her role, she was no longer able to keep an eye on it and could just wander about.

Orbach suggested to her that she use his dressing area because he was always playing poker with the crew when he wasn’t performing.

He was so busy that they didn’t have much time to talk, but over the weeks, they became more flirty and began to find ways to talk.

Orbach gave her a nickname one winter. Orbach would tell you that she bought a rabbit fur jacket that winter. “Here comes the wabbit”Every time he saw her.

Cancilla took her friend, Cancilla, to the top theater restaurant and bar after the show. They were surrounded by people and had no place to sit.

Cancilla was already a star in the theatre by the time they got married. Orbach never forgot details of their marriage after years of marriage and continued to use them for his poetry.

Orbach wrote the poems at 2:20 a.m., when he returned home to find her asleep. Because of his busy schedule at work, Orbach was also unable to write the poems. “Law and Order,”He continued to write the poems until he was up before she was awake.

Cancilla would find the poems beside her cup of coffee, and they made Cancilla’s day begin with love and smiles. They became part of their daily routine and she couldn’t throw them away as she considered them special.

They were put in a large soup tureen she received as a gift. She began tossing them into the tureen, but one day she realized it was empty. They were able to maintain their love in a unique way through the poems.

While he spoke about many different topics in his poems, the core theme was always their love. Cancilla called them her “love letters”.

He died December 28, 2004, and she published some of his poetry in a book. Titled “Remember How I Love You: Love Letters from an Extraordinary Marriage.”
