Jamie Carragher: Liverpool issues clear Mo Salah warning “sad”Admission

Mohamed Salah will be able to reflect on the blockbuster deal Liverpool made to sign Darwin Nunez.

Only one year remains on Mo Salah’s Liverpool deal

Liverpool are well-known for their ability to transfer business. However, the speed with which they have quickly lined up Darwin Nunez as Sadio Mane’s replacement has been remarkable.

Mane, one of the Reds’ most important players, made it clear that he wanted to move on from Anfield after the Anfield hierarchy failed to agree on a new lucrative deal to extend his Merseyside stay.

Liverpool has instead chosen to replace Mane, who will be leaving after his lengthy switch to Bayern Munich.

The Reds have smashed their transfer record to do so, with add-ons in the blockbuster deal for Nunez expected to nudge the total package for the Uruguayan hotshot to around £85million; a truly gargantuan fee. Liverpool are prepared to pay a lot for Nunez, though his wage demands will likely fit within their existing pay structure. That should give Mohamed Salah food to think about.

Like Mane, the Egyptian wizard is now in the final year on his current contract with the Reds. The 29-year-old has insisted that he will not leave Anfield this summer, but progress over another deal has stalled due to his huge salary demands, which reportedly stand at around £400,000-a-week.

Salah might be Liverpool’s most important player, but the former Chelsea man shouldn’t think that Liverpool can be taken to ransom. Mane’s example is an excellent example. Salah’s partner of crime took a similar stand and is now leaving the club, something that was unthinkable 12 months ago.

Liverpool are quick to sign Darwin Nunez, Sadio’s replacement.

Jamie Carragher, Reds’ icon, admitted Mane’s departure was inevitable. “sad”He also stressed the importance of having a club. “refresh their front line”. Sky Sports was informed by him: “Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp normally get their recruitment right certainly when they spend big. The figures we’re talking – that’s what they spent on the goalkeeper and Van Dijk and they made a huge difference.

“Liverpool must now refresh their frontline due to the age and performance of those front three players who have been absolutely amazing over the last four years.

“It is sad to see it broken up in some ways but it had to come to an end sooner or later and with Sadio Mane looking like he’s going to move on, Liverpool had to do something and he’s the one they’ve identified.”

Salah should not be surprised that Liverpool were able to find a high-quality replacement for Mane. If he believes he can keep the Reds in line because he’s an irreplaceable player at Anfield then maybe he needs to rethink his position.
