I’m A Celeb: Danny and Simon take on Santa’s Grotty Grotto trial

Soap stars Danny Miller and Simon Gregson will dine on a gruesome dish during a gory food trial on tonight’s episode of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

In a teaser trailer, the pair are seen standing in front of a table piled high with mince pies – but the pastry is not filled with succulent fruit but fish eyes.

The pair are told by hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly that they’ll win a star in the Santa’s Grotty Grotto trial if they chew the pies so hard that the eye juice comes out.

Once the juice oozes out they then must spit the disgusting remains into a sherry glass, before downing it all.

Ant tells the pair as Danny, 30, puts his hands over his face: “It’s time for some mince pies and sherry. Inside the mince pies are raw fish eyes – give them a chew hard enough that you squeeze the juice of the eye out into a sherry glass. It’s a star for each of you but only if you finish the glass completely.”

Emmerdale’s Danny hesitantly picks up a mince pie first and looks at it while saying: “Oh my god”.

Steve McDonald actor Simon, 47, appears more confident about taking on the sickening challenge than his campmate.

He picks up the pie before spurting juice into the glass, as Ant shouts “ohhhh” as Dec winces.

Danny taking part in the trial comes after fans of the show this week criticised him after catching him out over his Naughty Boy comments.

The DJ and producer, 40, was given a reprieve from doing a trial on Monday after previously being voted by the public for every challenge.

On Monday’s show, the public were asked to vote for who they wanted to win, instead of who they’d like to face the gruesome and painstaking challenges.

The remaining celebrities now choose amongst themselves who takes part in a trial.

Viewers of the show took to social media to tell how they have not forgotten remarks from former Emmerdale star Danny.

He had previously voiced his displeasure at Naughty Boy continuously being voted to do the trials.

He huffed: “So boring, night after night. Boring, boring, boring.”

But when discussing who would next take part in a trial, Danny was heard saying: “Whatever, I’m not desperate to do one.”

His comments didn’t sit well with those watching at home.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: “Wasn’t Danny moaning that he was bored and wanted to do a trial? Why doesn’t he do one now then?”

Another chirped up: “He was complaining NB doing so many trials but wasn’t too keen himself #ImACeleb,”

A third said: “So Danny got the opportunity to do a trial and backs out #ImACeleb.”
