On Saturday, around 100 protesters marched through a West Hollywood park in protest of a possible U.S. Supreme Court verdict that would invalidate federal abortion protections enshrined under the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision.
Signs with these slogans were carried by mostly female demonstrators
“We Won’t Go Back,” “My body My Choice,” “Abortion on Demand Without Apology” “If It Isn’t Your Body It’s Not Your Decision.”
According to Sgt. E. Jalvez from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s West Hollywood Station.
He said that traffic control was provided by deputies to keep protesters safe.
Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights will organize a week-long national action, starting Mother’s Day. It will build to a nationwide protest May 14. On its Twitter page, the group declares that they will not let the U.S. Supreme Court remove abortion rights.
“The leaked draft memo that states the Supreme Court has struck down #RoeVWade is an ATROCITY but It is not yet law & doesn’t have to be, but what they plan to do & will do if WE don’t stop them,”This group was also noted on Twitter.
