The History Of Doctor Who
Since the sixties, The Doctor has been with the house. Sci-fi was first created in 1963.was first depictedWilliam Hartnell. The BBC series would see seven actors play the role during its initial run. It culminated in a TV movie and an 8th actor played by Paul McGann. In 2005, the show was relaunched with a ninth actor who was soon replaced by David Tennant. He remained in the role until 2010. Matt Smith was the Doctor for three years until Peter Capaldi assumed the role of the twelveth doctor. Then, a major casting change took place in 2017 that shook the show’s universe.
Jodie Whittaker was announced as the series’ first female Doctor. It was a huge change for the series that had previously cast only twelve male doctors. She held the position until 2021 when her departure was announced. Variety claims that there were rumors about Jodie’s replacement. There were names like Olly Alexander and Micaela Col, as well as Lydia West. The official confirmation of the 14th actor is now available. This is most certainly exciting, but not for a woman.
Meet The New Doctor Who
Ncuti Gatta will play the role as the fourteenth doctor. Ncuti Gatwa is the first African American to take on the role. Variety shared the news that BBC confirmed Gatwa’s casting today prior to the BAFTA TV Awards. It is assumed that he will attend BAFTAs where the press will be covering. Doctor Who. This will allow Gatwa, who was reluctant to talk about her casting decision, to gain more exposure for the series.
The Netflix series made him a popular actor. Sex Education.But he is “deeply honored, beyond excited and of course a little bit scared”This is the role. Russell T. Davies, the showrunner, had this to say about why he was selected: “Sometimes talent walks through the door and it’s so bright and bold and brilliant, I just stand back in awe and thank my lucky stars.”Keep in mind, though, that he technically is not the first African American doctor to appear on the series. Jo Martin was the actor “Fugitive Doctor”Ruth Clayton during an episode in 2020. It is a huge honor to be his first lead. The filming of the show will begin towards the end.
