Derek ChauvinJust sentenced to over 20 years in federal prison after violating George FloydDuring his murder, he was able to exercise his civil rights.
In December, the former Minnesota cop agreed to a plea bargain. He admitted that he had his knee on Floyd’s neck during Floyd’s unresponsiveness. Floyd was sentenced on Thursday, receiving 245 months imprisonment followed by 5 years of supervision release.
Chauvin was in courtroom when the judge read out the sentence. He was dressed in an orange prison jumpsuit.
Floyd’s brother, PhiloniseGeorge was shot to death in broad daylight. Chauvin was accused by George of using excessive force against his police training.
George’s brother also noted that George wouldn’t have been there to see his daughter grow-up… Philonise agreed, saying George’s life matters.
Chauvin’s mother, Carolyn PawlentyIn court, she also spoke out… telling her son she would visit his prison frequently and hoped that he would be freed soon.
