Indiana police officer who caught video of him kicking a dog outside someone’s house will not face charges. His bosses insist that the whole story is true.
A woman wrote the disturbing video and posted it this week. “Yesterday evening while my family and I were at work, someone broke into my home. My dogs ran the intruder off. This was the response shortly after a neighbor called. My home needed help and all it received was hurt.”
Outrage followed, and many demanded the badge number of the officer, as well as his job. The cop appears to be just going to town against the barking dog.
But there is more to the story. Terre Haute PD told TMZ that neighbors called about the dog and another from the home being out on the loose and attacking anyone, including children.
They received a call on Nov. 29 about a white pitbull running loose in the area. This was the latest call, they claim. Officers responded and they found two dogs in the area, one of which is the one shown in this video.
After speaking to neighbors about the escape of the dogs from their yard, THPD reports that a sergeant walked onto the porch. That’s where the video picks begin. Officers waited to see if the owners were home and then they called the owners. They cited them for 6 counts each regarding the dogs being out of control.
What happens next? THPD claims that the Virgo County Prosecutor’s Office reviewed the case and concluded that the cop did not violate any laws. The department maintains that it is conducting its own review and the cop remains on leave.
They claim that the dog’s owners declined to file a further complaint or review any bodycam footage they recorded that night.
