Premier League title race – Man City lead at top

Manchester City lost their star manager Pep Guardiola on Friday as they beat Swindon Town 4-0 in the FA Cup.

Despite this, the Premier League champions managed to play 10 internationals and one child against the League Two team.

Even if you knew a lot about Guardiola’s glory side, Cole Palmer would have been a surprise to you.

The teenage made his friends look like boys by his stunning performance, playing with the Swindon defense in an attempt to end any hopes of an upset.

In the 14th minute, Palmer was the first to act on a night that would be defining. City took an early lead at County Ground.

Can Manchester City win this season’s treble? We’d love to hear from you in the comments!

Cole Palmer was outstanding in Manchester City’s Friday evening performance

He took the ball to his right and flipped it to his left. After that, he spun back and made an irresistible pass for Bernardo Silva.

Palmer’s magic would continue in the second half, but not before a calamitous mistake from Swindon’s naïve defence.

Lewis Ward, the goalkeeper tried to replicate City by giving a quick ball to Louis Reed. He failed to control it when under pressure from a swarming attack.

Gabriel Jesus was the first to score, and then the ball went flying to Gabriel Jesus. After a close one-two, the Brazilian scored the goal.

After the interval, Palmer’s first act was to produce a left-footed attempt from range. Ward was concerned and he was unable to stop him.

Later, a similar attempt was made. He walked into the box and fired a powerful shot that just missed the bar. In the coming years, it could become a familiar sight at the Premier League.

City fans knew his talent for goal from earlier this season’s goals against Wycombe Wanderers and Club Brugge in Champions League.

The visitors scored their third through Ilkay gundogan’s opportunist freekick. He bent his effort around Swindon’s murky wall and got into Ward’s goal from the left.

City should have been 4-0 seconds later when Silva was fouled in the box. However, Ward was defeated by Jesus with a poor penalty.

Swindon achieved their goal thanks Harry McKirdy’s late strike before Palmer, which was a goal Mohamed Salah would be proud of.

Man City beat their League Two counterparts to win

Ward was the perfect spectator as the talent picked up possession from a narrow angle.

Palmer’s problem will be to get into Guardiola’s fantastic team on a consistent basis. Phil Foden has shown that it’s possible.

He could be up against Southampton and Chelsea in the Premier League. Riyad Maharez will defend Algeria’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Cameroon.

Palmer will never forget the night in Swindon, however. It was a show of maturity that confirmed Palmer’s special talent and his place among Guardiola icons.
