Andreas Christensen’s father rebuffed questions about a possible new contract for his son, while Thomas Tuchel has named a possible new role for Saul amid rumours his loan could be cancelled.
Chelsea’s season is approaching a critical point.
A narrow win at Watford on Wednesday night was enough to keep the Blues top of the Premier League table, although the fixtures are poised to come thick and fast over a busy December.
Manager Thomas Tuchel will need to be canny in the way he uses his stellar squad of players and it will be intriguing to see how he approaches his first festive period as manager in English football.
The January transfer window will also open soon, giving the Chelsea boss a chance to fine-tune his squad.

Christensen’s father speaks out
The future of defender Andreas Christensen has been a big talking point as of late and the player’s father has declined to provide an update on the Dane’s contract.
Christensen’s deal at Stamford Bridge runs out in the summer, meaning he is able to speak to clubs from overseas from January onwards with a view to signing a pre-contract ahead of a summer transfer.
When asked about his son’s situation by Danish outlet BT (h/t Sport Witness ), Sten Christensen had little to add. “I will not comment on that at this time,” he said.
Possible lifeline for Saul
According to Tuchel, Saul Niguez could provide an option as a wing-back for Chelsea in the coming months.
The Spain international joined the Blues on loan from Atletico Madrid for the campaign in what was an apparent coup for the European champions.
However, he has struggled to show his best in the Premier League and was substituted at half time against Watford after a poor opening 45 minutes. In recent weeks, there has been some speculation about Chelsea calling time on the loan deal early.
Speaking about Saul on Friday, Tuchel suggested he could potentially fill in out wide, especially with Ben Chilwell sidelined with an injury.
“I think that he could play in a wing-back role for us,” said the Chelsea boss, per The Independent. “Even if we play in a dominant game, an offensive game because he is very strong in arriving in the opponents’ box.”
Milan giants linked with Sarr
According to Tuttosport (h/t Sport Witness ), AC Milan are ready to rival Inter Milan for Chelsea defender Malang Sarr.
In the piece it’s suggested the Rossoneri are on the hunt for a new defender after it was confirmed Simon Kjaer will likely miss the rest of the campaign because of injury.
It’s relayed in the story that previous reports have said Sarr is eyeing an “urgent” transfer due to his limited opportunities at Chelsea, with Inter reportedly keen on a loan deal that includes an option to buy for €15 million (£12.8 million).
The 22-year-old has made one appearance in the Premier League this season, impressing in the 1-0 victory over Brentford. However, Sarr is a long way down the centre-back pecking order at the Bridge.
