Thomas Tuchel talks about the race to get Champions League spots

In its early stages, Chelsea showed great promise in 2020-21. It’s now feeling more and more like one season, even though there is an FA Cup final against Liverpool.

After Romelu Lukaku’s two goals, Saturday’s match with Wolverhampton Wanderers looked like it was heading towards a routine victory for the Blues. Wolves responded in the final eleven minutes of the match to draw a 2-2.

It is a result that could push Chelsea back in the race for a top-four berth. If Arsenal beat Leeds United, fourth-placed Arsenal will be within a point.

Mirror Sport brings you the latest Chelsea news, after another difficult day on the pitch and one that is significant in terms of club ownership.

Pulisic rift denied

Thomas Tuchel, Blues boss, has denied rumors of a rift with Christian Pulisic.

After the Everton defeat, Mark Pulisic posted an online message from his father: “The sad thing is [Christian] loves this club, teammates, and London. Puts his heart and soul into being a pro. Onwards and upwards my boy. Big six months ahead.”

Although the post was deleted, Pulisic is struggling to get regular minutes at Stamford Bridge. Tuchel was asked about his remarks in advance of the Wolves showdown.

“I am not concerned if a father does not say that the player does not love me!”He said. “[Is everything okay] with me and the father? Maybe not, I don’t know! Like every manager we have our reasons to choose our lineup, we have our reasons to go for players in the first XI and you will never see in this kind of level of competition happy faces from players who are not selected.”

Boehly is spotted at the Wolves game

Todd Boehly, Chelsea’s new potential owner, was seen in the stands at Stamford Bridge Saturday, taking the seat previously occupied by Roman Abramovich.

The Blues confirmed that an agreement had been reached between the Blues and the Los Angeles Dodgers owner for the transfer of control.

Although his presence at the stadium indicated that the deal was close, there are still a few procedures to complete before it becomes official. Due to his close ties to Vladimir Putin, the Government has placed sanctions on Abramovich.

FA Cup: Players argue for it

Chelsea is still fighting for the top four spot despite their recent slump. However, all eyes have been on Liverpool’s FA Cup final for quite some time.

Next Saturday, the Blues will face Liverpool in the showpiece event. While Liverpool are flying at the moment and Chelsea seem to be settled in their best team, Chelsea doesn’t appear to have any plans.

It seems that Tuchel may be influenced by recent performances against Wolves and midweek against Leeds United. Mirror Sport looked at five players who could have done more to secure their final place.
