Thomas Tuchel reviews Leeds United win

Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea’s forward, could be key to Liverpool’s victory in Saturday’s FA Cup final.

They will meet again at Wembley for a replay of the Carabao Cup final. The Reds won the final 10-11 on penalties after a 0-0 draw. On that occasion, Romelu Lukaku came on as a second-half substitute – but his talents may give the Blues an advantage this time around.

It comes as reports suggest Chelsea have identified Barcelona pair Sergino Dest and Neto as transfer targets this summer – and could offer a double player swap to secure the signings. A report has been released on injuries to the Blues’ players, who are currently in the treatment area ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup final.

Blues chase double Barcelona swap

According to reports, Chelsea could be chasing Barcelona’s duo Sergino Det and Neto in the summer.

Barcelona may be willing to sign Marcos Alonso (Spanish) and Cesar Azpilicueta (Blues). Both Chelsea players are currently under contract to Stamford Bridge for the remainder of next season. The Blues may opt to offload them both now rather than losing them in a year.

The Blues are keen to continue their January interest in Dest and they are said to be considering a move to Neto “under consideration”.

Roundup of injuries

Before Saturday’s FA Cup final against Liverpool, updates have been made on Chelsea’s injured contingent.

Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ben Chilwell have all been in the treatment room in recent weeks and have faced a race against time to be fit in time to play at Wembley. Kante, Hudson-Odoi, Chilwell, and Kovacic are unlikely to be present at Wembley on Saturday.

Kovacic suffered a recurrence of his ankle injury against Leeds. Hudson-Odoi was out of action for a while with an Achilles injury, and Chilwell is out for the season due to an ACL tear. Kante seems to be on the mend from an unidentified injury and could play against Liverpool.

Lukaku threat identified

Romelu Loukaku could be crucial if Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea lift the FA Cup on Saturday.

They have no weaknesses with Liverpool and their four-front battle for the trophies this season. But they have sometimes had problems dealing with counter-attacks – where Lukaku’s skillset shines.

And should the Belgium international start he could prove important for his side – particularly with Reds defensive midfielder Fabinho set to miss the match through injury.
