Brush Fire Grows to 100 Acres in Jurupa Valley – Los Angeles

Firefighters battle a small brushfire in Riverside County, northwestern California, Friday afternoon.

According to Riverside County Fire Department, the fire was reported around 1 p.m. on Granite Hill Drive, Pyrite Street, just north State Route 60. Officials from fire departments said that the fire covered between 2 to 3 acres.

The fire forced the evacuation of Jurupa Mountains Discovery Center. This outdoor facility, which offers earth science activities for families, was mostly destroyed.

Up to 60 mph gusts are expected in Riverside County. This could spark any flames.

The fire did not cause any structural damage or injuries.
