As the January transfer window closed, it was quiet at Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners managed to transfer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, ex-captain of Xavi’s Barcelona, in a last-day deal. Auston Trusty, MLS side Colorado Rapids was also signed by the Gunners. He will be on loan until the end the Premier League season.

Aubameyang, in his attempt to get Mikel Arteta out of his way after being disowned for December’s disciplinary violation, made a final insult towards Arsenal.

It was the end of a busy January transfer window, which saw a lot of outgoings and very few new signings.

And it came as owner Stan Kroenke’s £725m gamble paid off.

Kroenke’s gamble pays off

Stan Kroenke was quite happy as Arsenal put Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s transfer to Barcelona to bed.

And that is because one of his other sporting franchises were toasting their success following a huge £725m gamble.

Similar to Arsenal, Kroenke’s NFL team the LA Rams decided they needed to move stadiums to be able to advance.

More than £4billion was splashed out on the SoFi Stadium, but after the project hit problems the owner had to take out loans from the league, which totalled £725m in order to get the project completed.

It was all worth it, as the side has now reached the Super Bowl.

Arsenal’s bustling window

There were 13 outgoings at the Emirates Stadium in January – but only three players came in.

After a record-breaking summer transfer window, which saw the arrival of Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale, and Martin Odegaard among others, MikelArteta and Edu were unable follow up on their previous successes in the transfer market during the winter window.

There are fears that the club may suffer from a lackluster depth as they fight for a Champions League position next year. Arsenal failed to target key targets Arthur Melo and Dusan Vlahovic.

Aubameyang’s last insult

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang knew for a while that Arsenal’s time was over.

After a December disciplinary violation, the Gabon international was removed from the club’s captaincy and left out of MikelArteta’s first team squad. He was forced to train by himself.
