3 killed in an apparent fentanyl overdose at downtown L.A.

Three men died from apparent overdoses of fentanyl Thursday morning in Los Angeles.

Police stated that they received a call from the victim’s wife at 1:15 a.m. asking for a welfare check.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that officers arrived at the 600 block of South Spring Street building to find three unresponsive men.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel, as well as a Hazmat team, responded to the call. The men were declared dead at the scene.

The men unidentified were said to be in their 40s.

The spokesperson stated that the deaths were being investigated for possible fentanyl-overdoses.

One officer was transported to the hospital after suffering from apparent fentanyl poisoning.

The officer was responsive and should be fine.

Investigators stated that the incident seemed to have occurred in a single apartment block.
